Anand Tiwari on his mentor Naseeruddin Shah: My life changed after I met him

Actor Anand Tiwari, who is making his Bollywood directorial debut with Love Per Square Foot, says that someday he would love to direct veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah in a film.

Actor Anand Tiwari of Detective Byomkesh Bakshy! (2015) and Go Goa Gone (2013) fame, considers actor Naseeruddin Shah his mentor. All set to make his Bollywood directorial debut with a film titled Love Per Square Foot, scheduled to release later this year, Anand says that Shah has influenced his portrayal of characters on the big screen and hopes that someday, he gets to direct the veteran actor in a film.

Anand’s association with Naseeruddin began in 2011. “I was rehearsing for a play titled All About My Mother, directed by Akash Khurana. Ratna Pathak Shah [Naseeruddin’s wife] was also a part of it. Naseer sir came for the rehearsals and spotted me. He praised my skills and asked me if I would like to work with him, and the first play we did together was By George. He is a teacher who has been the guiding force in my life. My life changed after I met him,” says Anand.

Naseeruddin Shah last shot for Bornila Chatterjee’s The Hungry that also stars Tisca Chopra.

After Love Per Square Foot, that is set to hit theatres in September 2017, Anand says that he would like to do a play with Naseeruddin Shah, again. “I hope he casts me,” he quips.
