“My Marathi is so awesome in the film. You can’t imagine any Punjabi speaking like that,” laughs Ayushmann, adding that he has always had a knack for picking up new languages. “I’m good with Hindi and Sanskrit, and that is the basis for any Indian language.

Apart from that, our core writer, Saurabh Bhave, was always on the set, and he would guide me with the accent,” he adds.

The actor also got his staff, all of whom are Maharashtrian, to speak to him only in the local language. He says, “Even though I would reply in Hindi or English, it was a good way of learning the language. I’ve been in Mumbai for a long time, so I feel it’s my responsibility to learn Marathi.”

The film is based on Talpade, who is credited with constructing India’s first unmanned plane, but Ayushmann refuses to term it a biopic. “You can’t call it one because there are hardly 80 words written about this man online. So, it’s a work of fiction,” he says, adding, “It’s a conspiracy theory because we’re talking about an era where inventions would happen every day.”
