Barfi! makes it to Rs 100 cr club

After the likes of Salman Khan’s Dabangg (2010) and Akshay Kumar’s Rowdy Rathore, Ranbir Kapoor’s unlikely contender, Barfi! has now made it to the Rs100 cr club.

After the likes of Salman Khan’s Dabangg (2010) and Akshay Kumar’s Rowdy Rathore, Ranbir Kapoor’s unlikely contender, Barfi! has now made it to the Rs100 cr club. As per trade pundits, the Anurag Basu film touched the Rs 100 cr mark on Tuesday afternoon.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh posted a message on a microblogging site, saying, “Ranbir Kapoor joins the much-famed Rs 100 cr Club today with #Barfi. And this is @priyankachopra’s second ton this year, after #Agneepath. Wow (sic).”

Producers UTV Motion Pictures are jubilant. “Barfi has had a dream run at the box office and continues to do well. With a huge demand we are hoping to add over 200 cinemas this week,” says Gaurav Verma, director, India theatrical distribution, Studios Disney UTV.

Also starring Priyanka Chopra and Ileana D’Cruz, the film was recently selected as India’s official entry to the Oscars in the foreign language film category.
