Bhoomi actor Sidhant Gupta: My first film was like going to a paid acting school
Actor Sidhant Gupta feels that one needs to be good, talented and hard working, and their destiny has to allow, or else it is impossible to make it big in films.bollywood Updated: Sep 23, 2017 13:09 IST
Many complain that Bollywood isn’t always kind to newcomers or those who have a television background. Actor Sidhant Gupta, who rose to fame with the TV show Tashan-e-Ishq, however, has a different story to share.
Sidhant has a role in Bhoomi, which stars actors Sanjay Dutt and Aditi Rao Hydari. Asked if he ever felt that it’s unfair that a newcomer gets lesser screen space as compared to the rest of the cast, he says, “If I was the producer, I’d also do the same, because they [other actors] have done so many films. They have already proved themselves, so it’s an individual’s journey. [Also] I feel that the audience is now accepting newcomers also, but it’s not easy.”
He also rules out the notion that newcomers or those from TV don’t get treated well on a film set. “At times, you feel nervous because you are working with established people, who have been there for so many years, but it’s not that they look down upon you... And you also have to keep growing. I’m glad that from a daily soap to a reality show to films, I’ve only been moving ahead,” says the actor, who has been a part of the dance reality show, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa.
He says that one needs to be a package to make it big in the entertainment industry. “If you are hard working and have the talent, and at the same time, if your destiny allows you to rise, you make it right, otherwise it’s impossible for people to make it big on the silver screen,” says Sidhant, asserting that he’s trying his best to make the most of the opportunities that have come his way.
The actor calls Bhoomi his first mainstream film. He has done a film earlier, but doesn’t like to talk about it. “There’s no point, as people don’t know about it. It didn’t even get a proper release. However, I take it as a blessing in disguise because I went through the whole filmmaking process, I shot the film and learned a lot. I consider it as my paid acting school,” he says.
