Bhumi Pednekar replaces Kriti Sanon in Anurag Kashyap’s Womaniya?
Bhumi Pednekar, who has appeared in films where she played a middle class woman struggling to find space for herself in patriarchal set-ups, plans to revamp her image with Womaniya and Son Chiriya.
Even before work begins on the upcoming project, Anurag Kashyap’s Womaniya seems to be in the news for all the wrong reasons -- a Times of India report claimed Kriti Sanon has quit the film and Bhumi Pednekar may replace her. The newspaper quoted a source as saying, “ As per Kriti’s schedule, she was supposed to start shooting for Housefull 4 and Panipat after finishing Arjun Patiala. With a choco-bloc year for the actress, she did not have the dates that the makers now wanted. Hence, they had to decide to move on from their first choice.”
While Kriti and her manager did not respond to queries regarding Womaniya, Bhumi’s spokesperson told HT, “As of now, Bhumi is reading several exciting scripts and her next set of movies will be announced soon.”
Bhumi, who has appeared in a total of three films where she played a middle class women struggling to find space and voice for herself in patriarchal set-ups, is all set to revamp her image. She has already completed work on Son Chiriya opposite Sushant Singh Rajput where she plays a Chambal dacoit.
If she agrees for Womaniya, Bhumi will be seen as a woman shooter who wins a medal at Olympics. Inspired by real life characters, Womaniya is about two professional woman shooters who are 60 and are narrating their own stories in flashback.
