‘Break Ke Baad is Deepika and Imran’s film’

Shahana Goswami has already worked with Shah Rukh Khan in Ra One, Abhishek Bachchan in Game and is rumoured to be signed on for Deepa Mehta’s adaptation of Salman Rushdie’s Midnight’s Children.

. Despite this, Goswami says, “Let my work do the talking.”

Refuting that she was sidelined during the promotion of Danish Aslam’s

Break Ke Baad

, Goswami says, “The film is a love story revolving around Deepika and Imran’s character. My role is in context to the story and I don’t see any reason why I should be promoted in the first place. It defeats the whole purpose.” Goswami plays a feisty Nadia who runs a paying guest accommodation along with her brother Cyrus (played by VJ Yudi) in Australia. During their break-up Deepika’s (Padukone) and Imran’s (Khan) characters stay at her house.

Break Ke Baad

Goswami says her character is very pragmatic but seemingly cold. “She has been jilted in life emotionally, so she has become sarcastic,” says Goswami, who views the couple’s relationship objectively as a third person. “She would call a spade a spade. Sometimes, people hide behind a different lingo and labels thinking that they have moved beyond the emotions of the past relationship. You need someone to come and show you how it works or what the other person is feeling.”
