Emraan Hashmi, whose Friday release, Murder 2 has got off to a flying start, is now gearing up for the 3D Raaz 3 that flags off towards the end of the year with Vikram Bhatt in the director’s seat. However, the actor will not carry the Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai story forward as underworld don Shoaib Khan.
Akshay Kumar enters the hit film’s sequel while Emraan makes his exit. Producer Ekta Kapoor reasons that it’s because this don is in his early 40s, and Emraan at 32 is a little too young to play the role. The actor is unfazed and points out that he doesn’t have to be a part of a sequel just because he was in Part 1. "If Ekta and Milan (director Milan Luthria) believe that another actor is better suited for the part, who am I to question their judgment? They are both intelligent individuals and sound in their reasoning, I can’t impose myself on them. Besides, I myself took Raaz 2 away from Dino (Morea)," he smiles.
Shrugging off rumours of being disgruntled with the duo, Emraan reminds us that he’s in Ekta and Milan’s Dirty Picture, co-starring Vidya Balan, Naseeruddin Shah and Tusshar Kapoor. Buzz is that he’s playing a pimp in the film. He laughs off the news flash saying, "No, I’m definitely not playing a pimp. I’ll have a clear picture of my role when I join the unit at the end of the month."
Speculations are rife that he’s also pimping it in Dibakar Banerjee’s political thriller, Shanghai. “Hey, at this rate I’m going to turn from a serial kisser into a serial pimp,” Emraan jokes, clarifying, “No, in Shanghai I’m a small-town journo who also moonlights as a model coordinator. He shoots marriages during the day and porn films at night. He’s a man of many talents. It’s an interesting, well-defined role and I’ve attended workshops to help me to get into character. This is Dibakar’s first mainstream movie but it will have his distinctive touch.”
