Farhan Akhtar doesn’t want to turn composer

"I think I would love to collaborate with someone. As I am good at writing I would be much happier writing lyrics. As a director, when you work with music director, you have a certain feel of what you want. But there’s only limited knowledge (I have) of which instrument can create that," says Farhan.

Farhan Akhtar wears many hats — that of a film director, screenwriter, producer, actor, playback singer, lyricist and television host.

However, there is one thing he is unsure of – music direction. Although

has done playback singing on a number of occasions, he says he’s not ready to compose music yet.

"I think I would love to collaborate with someone. As I am good at writing I would be much happier writing lyrics. As a director, when you work with music director, you have a certain feel of what you want. But there’s only limited knowledge (I have) of which instrument can create that. There are people who are more experienced at doing that," he says.

Talking about the Bollywood composers he loves working with,

says, "I love spending time with Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and look forward to the music session we have whenever they compose music for our films."

Ask Farhan, who also fronts his band,

, if he plans to work on original music, and he says, "Yes, eventually, that is the way. But it will take a certain amount of time. I am working towards that. It needs to be an extension of who I am."
