Ever since Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Raees has been in news, rumours about the other stars have been doing the rounds. Farhan Akhtar, who will produce the film, was also said to be working in it. Post the success of his Rohit Shetty-directorial last year, there was a lot of buzz surrounding Shah Rukh Khan’s next project.
Then came the news that the star has signed a film with Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s production house, which was to be directed by Rahul Dholakia. The film, Raees, had two lead actors, the second one being
himself. However, since this news came out, the rumours have only flown thick and fast with more names such as Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Sonam Kapoor and Katrina Kaif being thrown into the mix.
Now, a source from Farhan’s production house reveals, "When the script was in the initial stages, Farhan had shown an interest in acting in the film. However, as talks progressed, he didn’t seem as keen as he was earlier, and he decided to back out before things went further. There was no question of him being signed up for the part."
When asked about the same, Farhan doesn’t give out too many details, only saying, "The film has had its share of rumours — from me being part of it and being thrown out to being replaced. I don’t want to confuse people more about the film. But, very soon, we will announce the star cast."
Dholakia’s film Raees is a crime thriller, where SRK plays a bootlegger. The second lead is of a cop and the actor hasn’t been finalised yet. The film was supposed to go on the floors in mid-2014.
Farhan sings for an ad
He’s sung in films such as Rock On!!! (2008) and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (2011), and now Farhan Akhtar has lent his voice for an advertisement.
The commercial is for an online apparel brand.
A source close to the actor reveals, "During one of the brainstorming sessions, Farhan came up with the idea to sing the song himself. He has been picky about his singing assignments so far, but he felt that his voice suited this particular ad."
