Recently, actor Parineeti Chopra has been in the news more for her ‘new’ body, than her acting skills. She is definitely leaner, fitter and, by her own admission, “happier”. Ask her if it was the industry pressure that made her lose the kilos, and she says, “Yes and no. I don’t think anyone from the industry can pressurise you to become fitter. But when you are in a visual medium, it is important to look good.”

The Kill Dil actor says that it is normal for people to expect actors to look good on-screen. “That’s natural, even when I go and watch someone else’s film, I also expect them to look good. So when I look at somebody else on screen, and expect them to look good, I naturally want myself to look good too. That has motivated me to look my best on-screen,” she says.

And there’s more to actor’s motivation. “I want to be able to wear anything I feel like. I don’t want to be unhealthy. I am only 26, so there is no reason for me to not care about myself or be unhealthy. I am working on my fitness for so many different reasons and the result is clearly there for everyone to see, everyone is talking about it and some are even shocked (laughs),” says the actor.

She is loving the compliments she’s been getting too. “It’s really nice to hear all these compliments because I’ve been working hard on myself. I’m sweating it out to maintain a level of fitness I want, so it’s nice to have people notice the good changes,” says the National Award-winning actor.
