He was last seen on the silver screen in the 2011 dud, Loot. Ever since, Govinda hasn’t been part of any Bollywood film. A few days back, though, it was reported that the ’90s star will feature in a Salman Khan production. However, the latest we hear is that he will be teaming with — Akshay Kumar — in a comeback of sorts.
The Bade Miyan Chote Miyan (1998) actor will be seen alongside Akshay and Sonakshi Sinha in AR Murugadoss’s yet-untitled action film. “Govinda has shot for around 10 days with Akshay and Sonakshi at various locations in Mumbai, like Mumbai Central station and a few coffee shops in town. We are happy that Govinda is playing this part,” confirms producer Vipul Shah.
Apparently, Akshay, who was last seen with Govinda in Bhagam Bhag (2006), had an instrumental role in having the latter being brought on board. “One day, we were discussing which actor would fit the part when someone mentioned Govinda’s name. All of us were excited at the prospect of having him on board,” adds Vipul.
In addition to 10 days, Govinda is expected to work on the film for another week. “We will shoot with him once Akshay is back from Bangkok,” says Shah. Akshay is currently in the Thai capital shooting for the film, It’s Entertainment. Govinda, on his part, is also slated to star in Pahlaj Nihalani’s Avatar and Yash Raj Films’ Kill Dill.
Akshay turns mentor
The actor, we've been informed, has taken newbie Shiv Pandit under his wing. If sources are to be believed, Akshay seems to have signed him for a three-film deal. Starting with Anthony D’Souza’s Boss, where Shiv is playing the parallel lead alongside Akshay, it seems Shiv will be part of two more movies with the action star.
