Actor Anil Kapoor has spent over 30 years in Bollywood. Next month, he will see his son, Harshvardhan Kapoor , make his acting debut with Mirzya. Although the newcomer has gone on record to say that he won’t do commercial potboilers such as Ram Lakhan (1989) or Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja (1993; both starred his father), Anil isn’t perturbed by his views.
“Youngsters come in with different mindsets, and after spending some time [in the industry], they start understanding things better. Everyone makes compromises, but it depends on how much you want to compromise,” says the senior actor.
Anil feels that most people enter the film industry with “dogmatic principles”.
“So, everyone will be like, ‘I will do things my way.’ But the question is, ‘How much [will you stick to your views, and how often will you let go]?’ Some of the biggest achievers in our country have done things their way, but they have also had to compromise a bit. There are many who have compromised a lot too. I can only pray to God that Harsh compromises the least. Also, time, along with success and failure, teaches you everything. He will slowly learn what works and what doesn’t. I don’t know how his journey is going to be. Harsh’s journey isn’t in my hands or in my control,” says the actor.
