Arjun Kapoor has just had two releases in successive years — Ishaqzaade (2011) and Aurangzeb — but he hasn’t got carried away with his newly acquired stardom. The young actor is looking forward to gain a strong foothold in the industry.
“I am just two films old, but thankfully, I have a couple of good projects this year as well. It takes at least five successful films to be recognized as an actor or a star. I am still struggling to survive in the industry,” says Arjun. He has completed Gunday and is now shooting for Two States.
He has sported a rugged look in his films so far, but Arjun is looking to expand his repertoire with different characters in his upcoming films, so that he can establish himself as a complete actor. “So far, I have played just one type of character. Now, in Two States, I am playing a normal boy while in Gunday, mine is a completely different character. So, there is quite a good range of roles that I can entertain the audience with,” says Arjun.
Ask him if he finds it difficult to shift from one character to another, and he says, “It’s the most exciting to thing an actor can do — shuttling from one set to another and playing different characters.”
Arjun is currently at the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards in Macau. “I had been here five years ago, but at that time I was at the backstage. This time, being able to perform in front of such a varied range of people is really an honour,” says Arjun.
