I’ll do television only for money: Madhavan

Despite every actor worth his salt taking a plunge in the small screen business, Maddy, the original TV host with Tol Mol Ke Bol and Deal Ya No Deal to his credit, wants to concentrate only on films for now. “I will do television only for money. And right now, I don’t feel the need for it,” he says.

The actor, who was in town recently to promote Joyalukkas jewellery franchise, is busy reading scripts currently.

“That’s the thing about a hit film or a flop film. You get wary about signing up for a new film and end up reading a lot of scripts,” he muses.

In recent times, almost all seasoned actors are getting into film or television production.

So, can we put Maddy in the same slot as that of Rajinikanth, who too is a southern superstar with a pan-India popularity? “Rajinikanth is an enigma, a true phenomenon. He doesn’t need six-pack abs or brand endorsements. He is a brand himself and in a separate category altogether,” says the self-confessed Rajini fan.
