Knockout songwriter upset at getting a raw deal

Gangubai pe aayi jawani

. The film releases this week but the video is yet to hit airwaves.

Meanwhile lyricist Panchi Jalonvi, who has penned the lyrics for

Knockout

, is upset since the item song has been assigned to lyricist Sameer. “It’s unfair because I have written all the songs for the film. I wasn’t even told that a song like that was being included in the soundtrack, that too so close to the release. I learnt about it from other sources. I feel bad because if I had it my way, I would have given the song my touch and I would have saved my self from the embarrassment,” he rues.

Jalonvi points out that this is not the first instance of its kind. “Earlier when Nusrat Badr wrote songs for

, Sameer

wrote two or three songs and those were the promotion drivers for the film back in 2002,” he sighs. “No one cares to inform a lyricist who works as hard as anyone else on the film that someone else will also share credit with him,” he sighs.

It’s also learnt that the Jalonvi’s name was dropped from the DVD release of the film and the cover is now under revision. He says, “That was a mistake which the producers have admitted to. I’m sure it will be sorted by the time the film is released on home video.”
