It has been an eventful year for actor Kunal Kemmu. From the birth of his daughter, Inaaya, to the success of his latest film, Golmaal Again, and his wife Soha Ali Khan turning author, the actor has every reason to be on cloud nine. “It feels great when your belief and hard work pay off so well,” the actor says.
On the experience of being a part of a super hit franchise, the 34-year-old feels that one has to understand the writer and the director’s vision. “You have to trust that they will not bring a script to the actors unless they are completely sure of it, and maybe that’s the reason why it took seven long years to come up with the fourth instalment of Golmaal. And then, honestly, you are not even thinking that if it is going to be good. You have to believe that it’s good enough and that’s why it has come to you,” he explains.
On whether Kunal is satisfied with the parts he has been offered in the Golmaal franchise, Kunal says that for him, the process is more about working as part of a team. “We might be playing the same characters, but the story is always different in the next film. And it’s not that you do whatever is given to you. As a creative team, we all get together and improvise, and of course, take the lead of our director who is helming the project, and is completely on top of his game,” he opines.

{{/usCountry}}Back home, it’s Soha who Kunal turns to for discussing work-related decisions. “Soha is definitely the person who I respect as my partner, and also because she is a professional from the same industry, I trust her the most. I have a couple of close friends but I don’t discuss in detail with anybody. Soha gets the most detailed version. Rarely is the case when she would suggest any changes. She knows that I take my job very seriously, so she knows I am going to do the best. Discussing the script with her is never to say that ‘I should change something’. It’s more like ‘should I do something like this’ and have her opinion,” he signs off.
