Hema Malini and daughter Esha Deol took to the ramp on Sunday at the Lakme Fashion Week 2018 and their traditional appearance had the social media applauding. The mother-daughter duo looked nothing less than regal as they sashayed down the runway in vibrant outfits by designer Sanjuktta Dutta. Esha called mother Hema her ‘most comfortable partner’ and their ramp appearance proved it.
While Esha wore a pink blouse paired with a white skirt with printed border and a dupatta draped in a Gujarati style, Hema looked elegant in a multi-colored silk saree with traditional bangles, kamarbandh, and earrings. Both of them completed their look with maang-tikas, gajras, red bindi and heavy makeup.
Taking to Instagram, Esha shared pictures of the event, writing, “Walking the ramp with my most comfortable partner my mother @dreamgirlhemamalini for the awesome talented designer @sanjukta_dutta.”
After the ramp appearance, Esha was upset when she and Hema arrived backstage for media interaction and photo op but was interrupted mid-sentence. Hema and Esha were asked about walking the ramp together and their outfits. Hema said she was glad to have walked the ramp for a designer who was helping empower women in Assam. She also said she was going to promote Esha’s film, Cakewalk, and encouraged her daughter to say more about the film.
This is when the organisers interrupted and said that this is not an interaction for the media but a photo op. An upset Esha Deol walked off, followed soon by her mother.
The fifth and the final day of Lakme Fashion Week was a gala gathering for tinsel town A-listers. From Kareena Kapoor Khan to Karan Johar, B-Town celebrities set the ramp on fire as they turned showstoppers for various designers.
Since its inception, Lakme Fashion Week has always lent support to young talent and provided them with relevant opportunities to make their mark in the fashion industry.
