London, Paris, New York casts three crews

The makers of Ali Zafar and Aditi Rao Hydari’s forthcoming film, London, Paris, New York are shooting the film in an unusual manner. Instead of hiring one crew for the entire duration of the shoot, the makers are employing different units in the three cities they are shooting in.

Instead of hiring one crew for the entire duration of the shoot, the makers are employing different units in the three cities they are shooting in.

“Our basic crew, like the cinematographer is the same, but we’ve roped in fresh technicians and members including sound-recordists and art directors in all the three cities,” says producer Goldie Behl, adding that, “The result is impressive because each city brings in a different flavour.”

According to him, roping in a new unit with each location gives the film a fresh and novel look. “If the crew hails from a particular city, they know how to capture it in the most impressive manner. And their knowledge of the city is unparalleled,” he says.

Ask Goldie if such elaborate hiring plans cost him a lot and he says: “LPNY is going to be a game-changer in terms of budgeting. Although we have shot in three big cities, our budget has remained under control.”

“We are excited about LPNY. It’s a step towards bringing something different to the romantic-comedy palette that will appeal to the youth.

It speaks their language, reflects their aspirations and the angst and joys of falling in love,” says Vijay Singh, CEO of Fox Star Studios India and the co-producer of LPNY. The film marks the writing and direction debut of TV host Anu Menon and is set to release on March 2.
