For a long time, she hasn’t been a part of any big-ticket film in Bollywood. And Manisha Koirala recently lost another opportunity when thanks to date issues due to her marriage, she missed out on Raaghav Dar’s directorial debut venture, My Friend Pinto.

Sources close to the project contend that Manisha had agreed to play a part in the movie. "She was happy to be working in a film produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali (and UTV Motion Pictures), who directed Manisha in Khamoshi (1996)," says the source. "But suddenly, a few days before the shooting schedule commenced, she asked the production house and Raaghav to adjust the dates. But they weren’t ready to do so."

When contacted, Raaghav confirms this: "Yes, Manisha was supposed to play a part in the film. Everything was finalised. Back then; she was planning on getting married. So, she wanted us to shift the shooting dates. But we weren’t ready to reshuffle the schedule because everything was finalised."



Soon, Divya Dutta replaced Manisha. Sources contend that Manisha wanted the dates to be altered because she was having some issues with the fiancé Nepali businessman Samrat Dahal. "No, I don’t think so," counters Raaghav. "At the time when we were supposed to shoot, she wasn’t married. But I was a heart-broken because I have been a Manisha Koirala fan. She is absolutely brilliant."



Still, Raaghav chooses to look at the positive side. "I am happy because Divya (Dutta) has performed brilliantly. I have no complaints. She is an effortless actor."



My Friend Pinto, that stars Prateik and Kalki Koechlin, releases on October 14.
