Amid all the brouhaha about married female actors not getting plum projects in Bollywood, sits a smug Chitrangda Singh. The 36-year-old actor, who shot to fame in Bollywood only when she was much married to golfer Jyoti Randhawa, had an unexpected hit in Desi Boyz and is now getting rave reviews for her item song Kaafirana in the upcoming film, Joker.

“I don’t think marriage should be detrimental to an actor’s career. One just needs to be focused and continue to give one’s 100% to the career post marriage,” she says. Ask Chitrangda about her husband’s reaction to the sexy number and she says, “He really liked it. He said I really look good in that whole ethnic, rustic look and that this is the hottest I’ve ever looked. He was like, ‘Oh so you can dance too’.”

However, she is quick to add that she is not trying an image makeover through the item song. “I always believe that it is worth taking a risk to see what you can do and can’t. I want to make it clear that I’m not trying to change my image. I’m just trying to do something out-of-the-box. I want to try out new horizons. I’d love to do a film like Kahaani in future.”
