Mr India to Mr X: 5 invisible heroes of Bollywood

Here's a list of 5 films in which the hero was visible, well almost, to everybody in the theatre, but not to the leading lady and the baddies.

Bollywood's never been a big fan of invisible heroes. Now, when Emraan Hashmi's latest film Mr X is set to hit the screens, here's what we have to say: This is not the first time B'town's experimented with a hero who could play the disappearing act as well as he could do the mandatory song-and-dance sequence. Here's a list of 5 films in which the hero was visible, well almost, to everybody in the theatre, but not to the leading lady and the baddies.

K Ramanlal was one of the earliest directors to experiment with an invisible hero in the Hindi films. This film featured Vinod Mehra as a daredevil journalist who one day finds an atomic ring which can make you vanish in second. Atomic ring, really? But, then in those days we also had stupid dancing ghosts.

Naseeruddin Shah has always experimented with his roles and Chamatkar is a good example of it. He played a soul who comes to a cricket coach Shah Rukh Khan’s aid. It was illogical, stupid but funny.

A disgruntled Vishnu Prasad (Tusshar Kapoor) asks the god to make him disappear and the almighty grants him the wish. His life changes here onwards and he finally wins over Mohini (Antara Mali). Director Prawaal Raman’s film was a guide in how to not make a film.

Bhoothnath (2008)
Amitabh Bachchan played the ghost of a grumpy, old man in this film who helps a naughty child Banku. This sweet, little film impressed the audience and prompted the makers to come up with a sequel last year.
