Music Review: Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi

The first track, Ishq mein tere bina, is a love ballad infused with South American rhythms, sung by KK and Shreya Ghoshal. The song begins with an interesting introduction, but fails to impress.

The first track, Ishq mein tere bina, is a love ballad infused with South American rhythms, sung by KK and Shreya Ghoshal. The song begins with an interesting introduction, but fails to impress.

The acoustic guitar interludes and the string section are the only elements that lift the track up.

Khatti meethi is another ballad, with bi-lingual lyrics. The back-up vocal harmonies and piano add meat to this track. But running over five minutes, it’s a little too long. Things look up slightly with Kaafir Andhere, a rock ballad with stirring guitars and soulful lyrics. The soundtrack peps up with the title track, Shirin Farhad ki toh nikal padi, a club track sung by Neeraj Shridhar. The recall value of the song comes only from the oft-repeated chorus line.

Kuku Duku’ is an acoustic guitar-based track that brings a breath of fresh air to the film’s score. The flute fillers sound sweet and singer Mohit Chauhan does justice to the bi-lingual song.

Usha Uthup’s voice adds depth to this otherwise run-of-the-mill dance song. The shehnai and dhol lines, besides the harmonium riff cut the overall monotony of the track.
