Athiya Shetty, who is turning a year older today (November 5), is planning to spend her birthday in a different way. But unlike most people, the actor will shelve all her plans and instead take some time out to spend the day at an NGO dedicated to child welfare.
Athiya says, “I will be going to an NGO, Save The Children, to spend time with the kids there. I make sure I meet them on my birthdays. I will be cutting a cake with the kids and am looking forward to sharing it with the children.”
The actor says she prefers to keep her birthdays simple. “I never do anything hectic. I just like spending time with family and a few close friends. I don’t like birthdays (laughs). But my birthday always revolves around food, because everyone sends me my favourite food throughout the day. That has been one constant through the years,” says Athiya.
The actor, who debuted last year in Salman Khan’s production, Hero, and is now prepping for her second film, Mubaraka (co-starring Anil Kapoor and Arjun Kapoor), adds, “My date of birth is also memorable because it happens to be the same day I heard my first narration of my debut film. And ever since I became an actor, the love I get from my fans has increased. I get amazing letters from them, which makes me feel really special. I look forward to them. It certainly makes my day.”
