Pataakha song Hello Hello heralds the return of Malaika Arora in a Bollywood special song.

As promised, Malaika Arora has performed a special song for the film Pataakha, directed by Vishal Bhardwaj. The filmmaker is known to have featured one of the most well-known special songs in one of his films - Beedi, featuring Bipasha Basu, in Omkara - and Malaika is known as one of the most famous performers of these dance numbers, with classics such as Chaiyya Chaiyya, Munni Badnaam Hui and Anarkali Disco Chali in her back catalogue.

In Hello Hello, Malaika makes an appearance after the lead pair discusses job prospects. When Namit Das’ character tells Radhika Madan’s character that he has applied for a job at the telephone authority, she asks him what that means. This line provides a smooth transition to the song, titled Hello Hello.

The lyrics include references to Whatsapp and late night phone calls between sweethearts. “Aaja network ke bhitar keh ke hello hello,” Malaika’s ‘character’ sings as she dances in a circus tent and men with rifles stare lecherously at her.

The song has been composed by Bhardwaj, written by Gulzar, choreographed by Ganesh Acharya and performed by Rekha Bhardwaj. In an earlier statement, producer Ajay Kapoor had said about featuring Malaika, in what is considered to be her element, “So when we came up with this track for Pataakha, she was the first one we thought of casting. When I approached her for the song, she was very excited and immediately agreed. We are happy to have her on board and this song is tailor-made for her,” the producer said.

Pataakha is based on an acclaimed short story by renowned writer Charan Singh Pathik. Also starring Sunil Grover and Vijay Raaz, the movie is all set to hit the screens on September 28.
