Bollywood stars Hrithik Roshan and Kangana Ranaut have been in the news for more than just their films of late. It all began last month, when Kangana made a sharp statement, in an interview, regarding an unnamed ex. Subsequently, Hrithik made a vague retort on Twitter. Things got murkier earlier this week, when a report revealed that the actors had filed cases against one another. While both Hrithik and Kangana are known to be guarded about their personal lives, this fiasco has drawn them into the limelight like never before. Here, we speak to a few industry members about whether they feel it’s fair for popular personalities to indulge in such mud-slinging in public.

They are grown-up individuals and it is up to them. It’s not for me to comment on what they do. I don’t think people should judge [them]. They are adults and no one should tell them what they’re doing is right or wrong. Relationships are not easy and they must have their reasons for doing what they are doing.

Patralekha, actor
It gets messy when private matters don’t remain private. People get a chance to talk more about things if they are left open-ended. I don’t think it’s a great idea to wash your dirty laundry in public, because we, as actors, are exposed to public scrutiny all the time.

Mukesh Bhatt, producer
This is not a sign of mature individuals. They should have handled things at their level. The two people here are acting like kids. My only question is, when will they grow up?

Sagarika Ghatge, actor
It doesn’t matter whether anyone is a public figure or not, because in the end, sentiments and emotions are attached and no one has the right to let a third party judge them. No one should throw private matters out in the open, because they get misconstrued most of the time, and even if there is a chance of reconciliation, it doesn’t happen.
