Saif Ali Khan, Katrina Kaif-starrer Phantom is an example of how not to write off a film based on its box office collections on the opening day. Panned by the critics for its loose script and pedestrian acting by the lead pair, Kabir Khan's Phantom made a dismal Rs 8.46 crore on Friday. However, the film bounced back with a more-than-impressive show at the ticket windows over the weekend, collecting Rs 33.18 between Saturday (Rs 12.78 crore) and Sunday (Rs 11.94 crore). The film is being shown in around 2,600 screens around the country.
Made at an estimated budget of Rs 55 crore, Phantom is based on S Hussain Zaidi’s bestseller book Mumbai Avengers. It is the story of a team of undercover agents assigned to eliminate the mastermind of Mumbai's 26/11 attacks. Phantom also stars Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub and Sabyasachi Chakrabarty in important roles.

This is Kabir Khan’s second film this year. His earlier film Bajrangi Bhaijaan turned out to be a blockbuster at the ticket window.
