In Zanjeer, his remake of Amitabh Bachchan's 1973 film of the same name, the makers will have a qawalli.

In the original, the qawalli Yaari Hai Imaan Mera was shot with Pran and Amitabh, when the latter goes to Pran's house for his birthday.

A source says, "In the remake, though, it will be a huge iftaar party with all three stars - Sanjay Dutt, Ram Charan Teja and Priyanka Chopra. They will soon be shooting the qawalli, but it won't be a version of Yaari Hai Imaan. It will be bigger than the earlier one."

Having just wrapped up a long schedule in Hyderabad, the director will soon shoot an action scene between Sanjay Dutt and Ram Charan in Mumbai. "Priyanka and Ram Charan shot the Telegu and Hindi versions of the film simultaneously. It was tough for them to shoot in both languages at the same time. They have tutors who teach them Telegu and Hindi respectively. But because one is an expert in Telegu and the other in Hindi, they help each other out with diction during rehearsals."

Original too pricey!
The makers wanted to use the famous qawalli 'Yaari hai imaan mera' from the original. An insider says, "But the music company Saregama (formerly HMV) asked for Rs 40 lakh to part with the song or asked them to sell them the rights of their music. None of that was acceptable to the makers so they went ahead with a brand new qawalli for the film."
