Raazi gets a five-star review from Bollywood celebs, Alia Bhatt’s performance lauded

Makers of Alia Bhatt-starrer Raazi held a special screening of the movie onWednesday night in Mumbai and the film has got excellent reviews from Bollywood celebs who watched the Meghna Gulzar directorial. Among those who were spotted at the screening were Alia’s Brahmastra co-star Ranbir Kapoor, Janhvi Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan, Ishaan Khatter, Rekha, Neetu Kapoor, Soni Razdan and Karan Johar.

Based on Harinder Sikka’s book Calling Sehmat, the film stars Alia and Vicky Kaushal, Rajit Kapoor, Jaideep Ahlawat and Soni Razdan. Raazi is set during the 1971 Indo-Pak war and will release on May 11.

Filmmaker and Alia’s mentor Karan tweeted a sweet picture of the actor and wrote, “Anxiously waiting before the interval of a preview! Director actor love! #raazi.”

Director Rajkumar Hirani called the film outstanding and was impressed by the performances as well: “Saw #raazi. It’s an outstanding film and @meghnagulzar a master storyteller. Watch it for a great story and amazing performances from @aliaa08 @vickykaushal09 and all others. Salutes @JungleePictures @karanjohar.”

Actor Taapsee Pannu tweeted her reaction to the film and wrote, “It’s simply SUPERB! Please open the flood gates at the box office for this one ! Rarely a film meets expectations n this is bang on! #Raazi Congratulations @meghnagulzar @karanjohar @vineetjaintimes @aliaa08 @vickykaushal09.”

Jacky Bhagnani wrote, “Just saw #raazi and I am speechless . @aliaa08 is just phenomenal . Such a difficult role done with so much ease . She is terrific What a film . A must watch !!!!!@karanjohar.”

Earlier, talking about her preparation for the role, Alia had told IANS, “The closest I came to preparing this much was when I did Udta Punjab. For Raazi, I set aside a month before shooting. I cleaned up my Urdu language. I learnt how to drive a jonga (a jeep used by the Indian Army). I learnt some self-defence moves plus some techniques that spies have to learn before they are on their job. It was a lot of hard work and fun. But I think nothing really prepares you for that moment when you finally face the camera.”
