Actor Rishi Kapoor has landed himself in many controversies since he started tweeting actively in February this year. First, when he tweeted about “importing beef” to solve the issue of cow slaughter issue and the subsequent beef ban.

And the most recent one, when he faced criticism for his opinion on Deepika Padukone’s recent video, where he allegedly called women, “kamzor (weak)”. Left dazed by all the backlash, he says: “I think I will take a temporary break from here, to see the kind of response I get.”

The 62-year-old, who has been on the platform since 2010, says he joined Twitter to share stories with people but it didn’t turn out the way he had expected it to. “I can tell so many stories about my experiences in this industry and more. But people here are just so rude and impulsive. I mean, I’ll write what I feel is right. All the jokes are on me, but even if they don’t like something, they can tell me politely, like ‘listen, I didn’t understand your opinion and didn’t like it’. Why do they have to be rude?” he asks, adding, “I’ve blocked some 300-400 users on my account as they were abusive and used cuss words.”

Kapoor also says that his fans and close friends (he thanked actor Abhishek Bachchan on Twitter as he resurfaced on the site) encouraged him to have a social media presence.

“For a long time now, many friends and fans have been telling me to join Twitter and share my experiences. I feel that I can tell the world so much. I don’t think the outside world, apart from my friends and family, has given me the respect I deserve. I have been in the industry for 44 years and done some unconventional roles, and yet, no one talks about them,” he rues.
