Rupesh Paul to direct a film on Delhi gang rape accused

Filmmaker Rupesh Paul of Kamasutra 3D fame is ­making a ­feature film on the story of the juvenile accused in the Delhi gang rape case that shook the Capital on December 16, 2012. The film, titled, Monologues Of An Indian Sex Maniac, will travel the streets of Mumbai through the eyes of a young boy.

fame is ­making a ­feature film on the story of the juvenile accused in the Delhi gang rape case that shook the Capital on December 16, 2012.

The film, titled, Monologues Of An Indian Sex Maniac, will travel the streets of Mumbai through the eyes of a young boy.

"I discovered from the medical reports (of the juvenile accused) that he was raped at least 600 times in his life ... so I just ­wanted to portray the pathos of these street kids who go through such abuse. I’m not taking sides, I’m just trying to explore the ­scientific and social reasons behind them ­turning into sex maniacs," explains Paul about the film that was previewed at the Cannes film fest this year, and is directed by ­debutante director Sritama Dutta.

"My intention is not to titilate. In fact, the tormenting scenes might shock the viewers," says Paul. Of the six accused in the Delhi gangrape case, while one died during the trial period, four were ­sentenced to death last year, and a ­juvenile ­defendant was sentenced to three years in a reform facility.
