Sanju star Vicky Kaushal meets the real-life Kamli, Paresh Ghelani
Vicky Kaushal has met the inspiration behind his role in Sanju, Sanjay Dutt’s best friend Paresh Ghelani.
After welcoming him on Twitter, Vicky Kaushal met the real-life best friend of actor Sanjay Dutt, Paresh Ghelani. The actor took to Instagram to post a picture from their meeting.

“Real & Reel. Paria & Kamli. @pareshghelani #Sanju,” Vicky captioned the photo. Vicky played Kamlesh Kapasi in Rajkumar Hirani’s biopic on Sanjay, Sanju. The character was heavily based on Paresh and his friendship with Sanjay (played by Ranbir Kapoor in the film).
Paresh made his social media debut a few days after the film’s release on June 29. Ghelani penned an emotional note, saying he felt numb with “limitless emotions” when he watched the movie which made him relive a mix of “forgotten and unforgettable” memories.

He wrote, “After watching the film Sanju I was numb, numb with limitless emotions. I wanted to just hug him, hold on to him and cry. Cry endlessly to the years we had lost, to the years we stood by and witnessed this roller coaster called life and the irrevocable loss of loved ones. Now, the entire world shares our story, and the story of the man who’s made me a part of his and he has thought me how to get up after every fall. It’s hard to convey how many different emotions I’m feeling at this time. Sanju, you have been all that and more.”

“Sanju is an ode to falling, rising, making mistakes and learning, flaws, imperfection - everything that defines the core of friendship. It is, more importantly, a relentless pursuit of life with all its shades,” he added.
Even Sanjay welcomed his friend on Twitter with a sweet message. Taking to Instagram, the 59-year-old actor welcomed Paresh to social media and thanked him for being his ‘pillar of strength’. He wrote, “you are the pillar of my strength. Thank you for being there, then and now. Welcome to the world of social media buddy! Love you lots.”
Sanju has made around ₹270 crore at the Indian Box Office in the two weeks since its release. It also stars Paresh Rawal, Manisha Koirala, Sonam Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Jim Sarbh and more.
