Sardar flexes marketing muscle

Ajay Devgn is in no mood to bow to the All India Sikh Students Federation’s (AISSF)demands to make changes in his forthcoming film, Son of Sardar.

The body has urged the clergy to take action against the actor for portraying Sikhs in a negative light in some parts of the film. “My film does not hurt anybody’s sentiments. I am from Punjab and I have a lot of respect for the community and culture. The last thing I would do is to hurt anyone,” says Devgn, adding, “We have made this film under the guidance of a lot of knowledgeable people. So at no point you will find any element of disrespect. The protagonist of the film is a sardar, so the film will show a positive projection of the community.”

AISSF made a police complaint on grounds that the film’s trailer has objectionable dialogue, and Devgn wears a Sikh turban but has the tattoo of a Hindu God on his chest.
