Satyameva Jayate box office collection will gladden the heart of film’s lead actor, John Abraham, and that is despite the film facing a massive dip on Thursday, which was a working day. According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the box office earning of Satyameva Jayate on Thursday was ₹7.92 crore, making its total revenue ₹28.44 crore.
“#SatyamevaJayate saw a big dip on Day 2... Expected to show an upward trend today [Day 3]... Single screens/mass belt remains strong... Wed 20.52 cr, Thu 7.92 cr. Total: ₹ 28.44 cr. India biz,” Adarsh tweeted. The John Abraham film saw a massive dip from Wednesday as it was a working day. Tthe film’s earnings is expected to show an upward graph from Friday as it is a holiday in many parts of the country.
Satyameva Jayate managed to do better than expected when faced with Akshay Kumar’s Gold. Even the Reema Kagti film saw a steep drop on Thursday, doing only marginally better than John’s film at ₹8 crore. A source close to film’s producers said about Satyameva Jayate’s box office performance on Independence Day, “The film opened at ₹19.75 crore despite having the heavyweight Gold releasing simultaneously. As was expected, Gold got the gentry (or the multiplex audience in big metros) while John’s film got a mix of some multiplexes and many single screens across India.”

{{/usCountry}}Talking about the clash with Gold, John said earlier, “I think there is enough space for two big films on a holiday. It’s not competing. We are complementing each other. We would love if people go and see Satyameva Jayate and we would be absolutely happy if people go and see Gold.”
Talking about the economics of a box office clash, he added, “If we had a solo release of this film in the next week of Independence Day then also we would not be able to do that much business which we will be able to do on Independence Day with Gold so, it makes more sense to release it on a holiday.” It seems John Abraham’s box office gamble has paid off as Satyameva Jayate emerged as John’s biggest opener ever and made a record for the highest opening for an A-rated film
