Satyameva Jayate box office day 6: John Abraham’s film crosses Rs 60 crore

Satyameva Jayate has crossed Rs 60 crore at the box office, according to trade reports. It’s pacing up to be John Abraham’s biggest solo film ever, with a projected lifetime total of over Rs 80 crore.

John Abraham’s Satyameva Jayate is continuing its strong run at the box office, with another Rs 3.7 crore raked in on Monday, according to a trade report. The film has crossed the Rs 60 crore mark, and has posed significant competition to Akshay Kumar’s sports drama Gold.

According to trade analyst Joginder Tuteja, the film’s strong Monday numbers came courtesy continued interest in single screens across north India. The film is expected to finish its run with over Rs 80 crore at the box office, enough to make it John Abraham’s biggest solo success.

Despite mostly scathing reviews, Milap Milan Zaveri-directed Satyameva Jayate is a major win for its cast — including Manoj Bajpayee and Aisha Sharma — and a testament to John’s continued star power.

While Akshay’s Gold had released on 3,050 screens in India, John’s action drama was released on 2,500 screens. With their mammoth first day collections, the films together had beaten the highest opening day record in the Hindi film circuit, which belonged to Baahubali 2: The Conclusion with Rs 40 crore net collections.
