Shraddha Kapoor: Cool with comedies and bikini...

Despite a dud debut in Teen Patti, Shakti ‘Aaoo’ Kapoor’s daughter, Shraddha bags a three film deal with Yash Raj.

A year ago, Shakti ‘Aaoo’ Kapoor’s daughter Shraddha made her debut in Teen Patti that boasted of names like Amitabh Bachchan and Ben Kingsley. The film was a box-office disaster. A year later, the actor’s second film, Luv Ka The End, is up for release.

But it’s just one of the three films for which she’s inked a contract with Yash Raj Films. “I have a three-film ‘non-exclusive’ deal with the production house. I’m free to take on projects offered to me by other banners,” she exclaims. After a bold scene in her first Bollywood outing, the actor educated in Boston, says she’s open to versatile roles, comedies and doesn’t mind sporting a bikini if the script requires.

“But before I get into a two piece, I have to work really hard on my body. I get a lot of flak from my dad because of my love handles,” says Shraddha, who clearly doesn’t regret debuting in Teen Patti, since she calls it a learning experience.

But has she been through the acute pangs of love yet? “No, I haven’t fallen for anyone yet,” she sighs. “I only had a crush on a school teacher once.” The actor trained with Barry John and the director of Luv Ka The End. “Bumpy is bizarre in the way he thinks and directs. He made us do some crazy workshops,” says Shraddha. “We’re a bunch of newbies. So, we have huge responsibility on our shoulders to make things work.”

Shakti Kapoor has seen his daughter’s song, ‘Tonight…” from the film recently. “I can only thank the banner for providing my daughter a huge platform. Against popular perception, I’d like to make it clear that I don’t manage her career. Shraddha is an independent girl. In fact, these days she advises me how to go about my work,” he smiles.
