Doctors at Kolkata’s Belle Vue Clinic, where the 82-year-old Sen was admitted three weeks ago, told HT there was little chance of improvement if the current line of treatment continued.

“Now, ventilation seems to be only way,” said a doctor who was familiar with the veteran star’s condition.

According to hospital sources, Sen’s family was opposed to the idea, primarily because they did not want her to suffer more.

Since the time she was admitted on December 23, doctors have been trying to treat Sen’s severe lung infection with non-invasive ventilation.
