Actor Sushant Singh Rajput has his hands full, with quite a few films in the pipeline, including the Hindi remake of the Hollywood film based on John Green’s bestselling teenage romance of the same name, The Fault in Our Stars (2014), also the directorial debut of casting director Mukesh Chhabra.

And, what was it exactly that made Sushant give his nod to somebody who was directing their first film? “It was a very natural decision to be a part of his film. Now I acknowledge the importance of narratives among other things, and his narrative was very good,” he replies. “He was the first person who discovered me for my debut film. It is only sensible and right that when he is doing his first film that I add value to it,” adds Sushant, who made his Bollywood debut with Kai Po Che (2013).

The actor tasted box office success with films such a Shuddh Desi Romance (2013) and MS Dhoni: The Untold Story (2016). He says that to be able to give his best for any project, he likes to push his limits.

“I always stretch myself to just that limit where I think I won’t be able to push it any longer and it will be tough. This thought keeps me so engaged that I don’t get to know if I am working hard or less, but it’s meaningful and then whatever the outcome is, it’s for everyone to see,” he says.

Having been around in the entertainment industry for quite some time now and enjoyed a fairly huge TV and film fan base, Sushant admits that he has understood what it means to be a celebrity. “For me, a celebrity is someone who celebrates, and if there is nothing to celebrate, creates something that should be celebrated. That’s one definition of celebrity and I am working towards it,” says Sushant, who recently wrapped up the filming of his upcoming film, Kedarnath, alongside Sara Ali Khan.
