Kangana Ranaut-Madhavan-starrer Tanu Weds Manu Returns opened to a great response on Friday, collecting Rs 8.75 crore in India.
Aanand L Rai's sequel to his 2011 hit film has critics raving about the performances of the lead pair, and Deepak Dobriyal. The film was made at an estimated budget of Rs 40 crore.
The film also made impressive collection in the international markets, earning a total of Rs 3.5 crore at the overseas ticket windows. It made Rs 19.9 lakh in Australia, Rs 3.5 lakh in New Zealand and Rs 34 lakh in England. The film earned Rs 1.5 crore in the US.
Tanu Weds Manu Returns is about mismatch in a love marriage. Kangana essays a double role in the movie, reprising the role of Tanuja Trivedi as well as her look-alike Datto -- a Haryanvi student studying in the Delhi University. The film also stars Swara Bhaskar, Eijaz Khan and Rajesh Sharma in pivotal roles.
