Back in March 2013, before his action film, Commando, released, there were reports that actor Vidyut Jamwal is planning to start self-defence classes for women in Mumbai. Eventually, however, that turned out to be more of a promotional gimmick for a film rather than a genuine effort to make a difference. The said classes never really took place.

Now, the promises are back, and this time, the claim is that the self-defence classes with be an ongoing, rather than a one-off thing. The said classes will apparently start from December, and will take place on Juhu beach on the last Sunday of every month.

Vidyut says, “I feel that women’s safety is paramount. On an individual level, I would like to make women self-sufficient and be able to take care of their own safety. I would teach self-defence techniques free to anyone who wants to learn.”

Vidyut’s spokesperson further says that the actor will take time off from his shooting schedules for the classes. “He believes that the training program will help women become physically and mentally stronger,” the spokesperson says.

We hope, this time, the claims are for real.
