With upwards of 70% occupancy, Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff’s action film, War, is expected to deliver the actors’ best opening day box office numbers. All said and done, the film could make as much as ₹50 crore nett on its first day of release.
Box Office India reports that the film is registering a strong 70% occupancy rate on Wednesday, October 2. The number could increase to over 90% towards the evening. The film has already made more than ₹23 crore, with more than ₹20 crore in advance ticket sales.
As far as opening day figures are concerned in Bollywood, Aamir Khan’s Thugs of Hindostan leads the pack with ₹52 crore. It is followed by Happy New Year, with nearly ₹45 crore, and Bharat, with ₹42 crore, according to Bollywood Hungama.
In 2019, Avengers: Endgame opened to ₹53 crore. Endgame also holds the record for the largest occupancy of 2019, with 77%, according to Box Office India.
If War hits the ₹50 crore mark, it would make it Hrithik and Tiger’s biggest debut, by a wide margin. Hrithik and director Siddharth Anand’s previous film, Bang Bang, opened to ₹27 crore, while Tiger’s Baaghi 2 debuted with ₹25 crore.
