From celebrating the Sikh community’s contribution to fashion and raising awareness about a cause close to his heart, actor Akshay Kumar left the city spellbound and in the process gained a new admirer — Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

On Tuesday morning, the Singh is Bliing star was invited by the CM, where the latter pledged support to Akshay’s efforts towards helping the widows of debt-ridden farmers who committed suicide. The previous evening, Akshay, along with co-stars Lara Dutta and Amy Jackson, and the director of his film, Prabhudheva, walked the ramp in a unique fashion show by ace designer JJ Valaya, called Style and the Singh. Choreographed by Harmeet Bajaj, the show had all models belonging to the Sikh community and celebrated the joie de vivre innate in their style.
Later the same night, a charity dinner helped Akshay raise awareness about the cause of the widows. The evening was attended by the who’s who of Delhi and within 15 minutes, the star raised enough funds to support 100 families of the farmers.
