Why Govinda turned down Salman's offer

A couple of days ago, Salman revealed that he had approached Govinda to act in the remake of Mahesh Manjrekar’s hit Marathi film, but the veteran comic star had turned down his offer. When we contacted Govinda, this is what he said.

Last year, in October, HT Café reported that Salman Khan was set to produce and act in the Hindi remake of Mahesh Manjrekar’s hit Marathi film, Shikshanachya Aaicha Gho (SAG).

Now, a couple of days ago, Salman revealed that he had approached Govinda to act in the remake too, but the veteran comic star had turned down his offer.

However, when we contacted Govinda, he explained to us that he chose not to star in the film simply because he “didn’t like the script”.

“I had said no to the offer four years ago. I had told Salman about it (not liking the script). So he said that he would get the script altered and have it sent again to me. And the script did come back to me, but I didn’t find anything changed. Maybe the writers couldn’t change anything,” says Govinda,
adding, “I informed Salman about the same and then he just asked me to take whatever decision I deemed fit. That’s it.”

Meanwhile, SAG is expected to go on the floors by February. Even though Salman has said that the cast is yet to be finalised, it is believed that Paresh Rawal has now been confirmed for the protagonist’s role that was initially offered to Govinda. The remake, which might be titled God Only Knows, revolves around a father’s quest to see his son perform well in school.
