One can sense the excitement in actor Saqib Saleem’s voice when you ask him about Race 3, his upcoming multi-starrer film with Salman Khan. While fans have seen Saqib in films such as Mere Dad Ki Maruti, Bombay Talkies and Dil Juunglee, this one is going to be his first big-budget masala film.

“I am really excited, as I haven’t been part of such a big film before in my life! It’s a summer blockbuster. The work I have done before this is completely different. I got an opportunity to work with the stalwarts of the film industry — Salman bhai, Anil (Kapoor) sir, Bob (Bobby Deol), Remo D’Souza sir. It was as if I had almost a hundred years of work experience all around me! I had Prem on my left, and Mr India on my right, and Soldier in front of me! As a young actor, I was picturing how did I get in here? I was a fanboy on set.”

Saqib’s new avatar sees him doing stunts, too, for the first time. “Superkicked”, as he puts it, he adds, “This was the first time I was holding guns. There is a sequence in the trailer that I am shooting two guys at the same time in a Ferrari... I felt damn cool.”

But it certainly wasn’t easy. The proof is the scars on his left hand. He says, “Action choreography is like dance choreography. Once you get the hang of it, you start enjoying it, your body gets used to it. It’s been a tough
film in that sense, as I have cut myself a lot of times, got stitches, and literally given khoon paseena to this film.”
