Book review: The Burning Fields mines brutal reality of honour killing

The story opens with the Partition of India in 1947 and simultaneously also traces the Iron age history with episodes of Ashoka and the Maurya Empire. The narrative eventually comes to modern day cities such as Calcutta (now Kolkata) and Bombay (Mumbai), where Arbaaz and Arvind are presently living their lives.

An outcome of some serious research done by the author, this novel intelligently weaves real life incidents into fiction. The story that is crafted, is a mix of ancient secrets and modern phases of India, since the time of Partition.
