Rupee edged higher by 4 paise to 67.16 against the dollar in early trade today at the Interbank Foreign Exchange on persistent foreign fund inflows and fresh selling of the US currency by banks and exporters.

Forex dealers said a higher opening in domestic equity market and a weak dollar against other currencies overseas supported the rupee.

The rupee had depreciated by 13 paise to end at 67.20 against the American currency in yesterday’s trade owing to sustained dollar demand from banks and importers.

Meanwhile, the benchmark BSE Sensex recovered 58.07 points or 0.20 per cent to 27,804.73 in early trade. PTI SUN KPS ABK
