...As 'conservative' FM says he is happy with 8.75% growth

Finance minister Pranab Mukherjee on Friday said he would prefer to be conservative and would be happy if the economy grew by 8.75% instead of the 9% growth projected in the current fiscal year. HT reports.

Finance minister Pranab Mukherjee on Friday said he would prefer to be conservative and would be happy if the economy grew by 8.75% instead of the 9% growth projected in the current fiscal year.

"I am bit conservative so I would be happy if GDP is 8.75%," he said.

He also exuded confidence that the fiscal deficit could be contained at 5.5% of GDP in the current fiscal year.
