“Baring has one third of the total fund remaining to be invested,” said Varun Batra, partner, Baring Private Equity Partners (India). “The fund is examining opportunities across a variety of sectors and I believe that these funds will be deployed within the next 12 months or so.”

Baring had raised three funds — $40 million, $170 million and $550 million — of which about 215.5 million (Rs 1,086 crore) would be deployed by mid 2013.

The company has made investments in pharmaceutical companies, banking and finance companies and lately also in a real estate project. The company has an investment cycle for 12 years.

The company also plans to go in for another round of fund raising once investments from all the three funds have been completed. The company official however, did not disclose the size of the upcoming fund.
