This was the biggest non-fiction entertainment show opening and the highest rating for a Bollywood-anchored non-fiction show since 2008, beating the likes of Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, Shilpa Shetty, Arshad Warsi, Rajeev Khandelwal and Amitabh Bachchan-anchored shows.

TAM recorded the Amitabh Bachchan-anchored Bigg Boss Season 3’s opening at a TVR of 4.6% on Colors, the same as the SRK’s Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain and the Rajiv Khandelwal’s Sach Ka Saamna on Star Plus. Akshay Kumar’s Khatron Ke Khiladi Season 2 on Colors saw a 4.4% opening TVR and Rakhi Ka Swayamvar on NDTV Imagine got 4.1%.

Says Ashvini Yardi, programming head, Colors, “We are overwhelmed by the opening numbers of National Bingo Night. There was a huge wave of interest amongst viewers.”

The all-India TAM TVR reading for National Bingo Night was a lower 3.7 per cent. An audience analysis by aMap, another TV viewership rating agency whose all-India C&S TVR reading of the show was 3.5%, reveals that more women viewed the opening show than men. Also, the highest numbers were housewives, followed by the chief wage earners and then college-going youth. SEC A and B watched with equal interest and the most interested viewers were in the 45-54 years age band, followed by the 35-44 year age band.
