Budget 2025 Stock Market Impact Highlights: Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Union Budget today at 11 am in parliament, with a focus on agriculture, manufacturing, employment, MSMEs, uplifting rural areas and innovation. While the Nifty didn't perform well, the sector wise Nifty Auto, Nifty FMCG and Nifty Consumer Durables showed gains.
Zomato rose 15 points, Maruti increased 615 points and ITC Hotels grew 7.75 points, emerging as the biggest winners on the Sensex. Down 11 points - Powergrid was the top loser, followed by Larsen & Toubro (L&T) down 119 and NTPC down 6 points.
Key takeaways of the Union Budget
- One of the biggest takeaways from the Budget was the income tax rebate which stated that under the new tax regime, there will be zero income tax up to an annual income of ₹12 Lakh.
- In the agricultural sector, the PM Dhandhanya Krisihi Yojna was announced, which will cover 100 districts with low productivity. It will enhance agricultural productivity and augment storage at the panchayat level. This programme will cover 1.7 crore farmers.
- Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman also announced that the investment limit for the classification of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) would be increased 2.5 times.
