Chhatrasal coal gets green signal

The Chhatrasal coal block, one of the three captive coal blocks allotted to Reliance Power’s Sasan Power Ltd in 2006, has received Stage-1 forest clearance from the ministry of environment and forest (MoEF). HT reports.

The Chhatrasal coal block, one of the three captive coal blocks allotted to Reliance Power’s Sasan Power Ltd in 2006, has received Stage-1 forest clearance from the ministry of environment and forest (MoEF).

It has estimated coal reserves of 160 million tonnes and peak rated capacity of 5 million tonnes per annum and is expected to play a big role in providing fuel security to Reliance Power’s 4000 MW Sasan Ultra Mega Power Project and Chitrangi Thermal Power Project (4000 MW).

Earlier in the year, an expert committee was set up by the MoEF to look into forest clearance for certain coal blocks.
